Alexandra Karamoutsiou received her PhD from the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she currently serves as a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct lecturer. Alongside her teaching and research activities, she is actively involved in two funded research projects and has been selected as an academic fellow of the Research Center for the Humanities (RCH) for the year 2024. Her research lies at the intersection of popular music studies and urban music studies, with a particular focus on DIY music practices, creative networks, music communities, and non-institutional music spaces. She specializes in the study of Thessaloniki’s DIY music studios, exploring their role as cultural infrastructures, sites of creativity, and hubs of resistance.
